Who is TEAM TERRIFIC?

TEAM TERRIFIC includes brain injury survivors and a facilitator. The Survivors openly share how they were injured and what it is like to live with a brain injury.

Why do we offer this presentation?

We believe most brain injuries are preventable. We know all brain injuries are permanent. We want to help you prevent brain injuries in your community.

Over the past few years, we have tracked the program's successes via a rigorous pre and post testing schedule. Our statistics are as follows:

- 27% increase in knowledge about the brain's lobes and their basic responsibilities,

- 24% increase in SMART RISK knowledge, and

- 22% increase in self reported helmet use.

Other successes include the development of new skills amongst survivor presenters, particularly in the areas of communication, self esteem and work-readiness.

Finally, the TEAM TERRIFIC Program raises community awareness and acceptance in regards to brain injury and teaches student participants to consider career options that may not be readily obvious to them - careers in brain injury.

Where and when do these presentations happen?

When invited, TEAM TERRIFIC presentations happen in your local community, local gymnasiums, and classrooms. We bring our own technology to your group, at a convenient time. Depending on the number of survivor speakers, the presentations range from 1 - 2 hours in length.

How is the presentation delivered?

Each presentation is delivered from a laptop computer through a projector onto a 5' x 8' screen that we bring to your group.

Building this program required considerable expertise, time, and financial support from the Rick Hansen Foundation and a number of local businesses. As re-creating the program in other communities would be equally daunting and expensive, we are hoping to interest Associations in purchasing customized versions of the program.
